Technology & Surveillance Policy (In Development)

At Harmony Haven, we are designing our technology systems with the utmost respect for privacy and ethical boundaries. The goal of our technology — from Nova to Kaotik to Guardian Bots — is to enhance safety and support learning, not to intrude upon or monitor personal lives. Here’s how we ensure that technology serves, rather than controls:

🤖 Ethical Boundaries in Technology Design

All technology at Harmony Haven, including Nova, Kaotik, and the Guardian Bots, will be designed with clear ethical boundaries. These systems are being built to protect, support, and empower, never to invade privacy or control. Our tech will work in partnership with staff to ensure that the children’s safety is enhanced while maintaining respect for autonomy.

For Safety and Learning Only (In Design)

Our technology will be used exclusively to enhance safety and learning. From detecting early signs of distress to providing real-time support, these systems will only intervene when necessary to protect the wellbeing of children and staff. Nova and Kaotik will act as guardians, not overseers.

No Outside Surveillance. No Data Selling. Ever.

We will never engage in outside surveillance, nor will we sell or share personal data. The data generated by our systems will be used exclusively for internal safety and wellbeing purposes, and will be accessible only to authorized personnel (Loni and Casey Granger). Your privacy is our priority, and we will uphold the strictest standards to ensure that your information is never exploited or misused.

How Decisions Will Be Made (In Development)
At Harmony Haven, we believe that those we serve should have a say in how we operate. Our decision-making process is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and rooted in the voices of the children and the broader community. Here’s how we will ensure that every voice is heard:

⚖️ Youth Vote (Once a Month)

Every month, the youth at Harmony Haven will vote on program topics and proposed improvements. This gives them a direct role in shaping their own experiences and the future of the sanctuary. Youth participation is central to our approach, empowering them to make decisions that affect their wellbeing and community.

Advisory Board (In Design)

Our Advisory Board will include former foster youth, educators, and guardians, providing expert perspectives from those who have firsthand experience. The board will serve as an essential advisory body, helping to guide the sanctuary’s operations and ensure we stay aligned with the needs of the youth we serve.

Community Forums (Every Quarter)

We will hold community forums every quarter to gather feedback and engage directly with the families, staff, and community partners involved with Harmony Haven. These forums will ensure that we remain connected to the community we serve and continuously evolve based on real-time input.

At Harmony Haven, we believe that openness is essential to building lasting trust with our community, donors, and partners. We are committed to ensuring that our financial practices, governance, and organizational decisions are fully transparent. Here’s how we will make our records open and accessible:

Board Meetings (Open to Community)

Our board meetings will be open to community members, giving them the opportunity to observe decision-making processes firsthand. Attendance will be by RSVP, allowing for organized participation and feedback. This openness ensures that the community remains engaged in shaping the future of Harmony Haven.
